Mission            

Our mission is to work collaboratively with Baltimore City Public Schools (BCPS) to develop or complement existing programs working towards increasing academics by way of parental involvement in schools.   

Vision 

Parents with Power’s (PWP) vision is to create opportunities for increased parental involvement by implementing and facilitating on site services for parents.  

PWP will also work with parents to assess, identify and address barriers that affect the parents ability to be involved in the educational journey of his/her child. 

Introduction

Think for a moment. Think about the responsibilities of parents.  Think about the stresses inflicted upon a two parent family and the daily battles of managing both the family and household.  Imagine for a moment the possibility of having to take on those same responsibilities alone. 

How well would you function?  Now add unemployment, domestic abuse, alcoholism, a child or children with behavior problems, and drug abuse to your list of things to deal with.

Unfortunately, these are some of the issues parents deal with on a day to day basis.  Many parents cope as well as possible while others succumb to the ills of their situations.  Parental involvement has been acknowledged as a vital component towards the student’s educational success and so we must provide resources and support to address the immediate barriers of parents.  PWP,™ offers the development and implementation of such services.  We provide services for groups as well as individuals. 

Our program provides flexible adult literacy classes, case management, advocacy, and intensive personal development workshops and training.  The key to our success is personal experience, consistency, follow through, and location. PWP, ™ is normally set up inside the school or in close proximity to the school.
